Let’s be real, mamas—we’ve all had those “What the heck is this?!” moments while cleaning. Whether it’s discovering a half-eaten snack in a toy bin or a rogue sock that’s somehow cemented itself to the floor, cleaning can sometimes feel like an episode of “Survivor”. Yes, we know. We totally dated ourselves here, but we are okay with it.

At DeeDee Clean Maid Services, we’ve seen (and survived) it all! And we mean…ALL.

So, grab your coffee (or wine— we don’t judge here), and let’s dive into some of the strangest things we’ve found while cleaning— and we can tell you how to handle them without losing your sh*t.

The Mummified Banana

Picture this: You’re bravely venturing into the back of your fridge, and there it is - what once was a banana, now a mysterious, blackened relic of its former self. How long has it been there? Weeks? Months? Who knows! But now it’s your problem.

How to Handle It:

Once you’ve expressed how “gross” it is, it’s time to grab some gloves.

Ready?

Pick it up and toss that poor banana into a sealed bag before it can further assault your senses.

Then, wipe down the crime scene with a good disinfectant. And hey, maybe take this as a sign to schedule a regular a fridge clean-out.

(psst..don’t worry we are all guilty of this sometimes. Especially our HR Manager but don’t tell her we told you!!)

Next up:  The Toy Graveyard Under the Couch

IYKYK.

You’re digging under the couch cushions, and suddenly it’s like you’ve unearthed a toy graveyard. There’s that Lego piece you stepped on last month, the Barbie shoe that vanished during a tea party, and oh look, a puzzle piece! Basically, your couch has been moonlighting as a toy box.

How to Handle It:

Channel your inner Marie Kondo, collect everything and get to decluttering your space.

Give them a quick clean and decide what’s worth keeping (and what can be quietly donated).

The Couch Cushion Stash:

Speaking of couches, why do they seem to swallow everything? From lost remotes to random snack wrappers. And let’s not even start on the crumbs—seriously, how does so much food end up in there?!

How to Handle It:

Start by flipping those cushions and vacuuming out all the crumbs and debris. Anything sticky? Break out the fabric cleaner. As for those random objects, maybe keep a small basket nearby to toss everything into. You’ll thank yourself next time you’re on the hunt for the remote (again).

The Unwanted Surprise:

Every now and then, you’ll come across a little “visitor” who decided your home was their home. Whether it’s a spider in the corner, or a random hair tie that looks like a spider (this may or may not have happened to someone on our team), these surprises are enough to make you rethink that whole “love of nature” thing.

How to Handle It:

Stay calm, mama! Gently guide them back outside where they belong. If they are…no longer with us, gloves are your bestie. Dispose of them quickly and give the area a good clean. Then maybe do a quick scan to make sure no other surprises are lurking.

Oh, and if you’re not up for it, we have a solution for you! Remember when we introduced Mr. Clean? He is ready to take care of the situation!

Cleaning is never just cleaning when you’re a mom - it’s a full-blown adventure. We’ve seen it all at DeeDee Clean, and we’re here to help you tackle whatever your home throws at you. So next time you find something bizarre, just remember - you’re not alone!
